1st Bin Lake Wuxi China International Youth Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament
Regulations
 
1.  The competition will be held from May 9th to May 10th ,2008 in Li Lake, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province of China

4. Crews: 12 teams being invited by CDBA
5.  Events: Open Standard dragon boat 250m and 500m Straight Speed Race
6. Racing Method:
  1) The updated version of the “Chinese Dragon Boat Racing Regulations” will be applied in the race.
 2) All racing equipments (e.g. boats and paddles) shall be provided by the Organizing Committee. Participating teams are also allowed to bring their own paddles whose color must be the same.
3) Each team shall bring two of their national or regional flags approved by the IOC for the Opening Ceremony, Closing Ceremony and Awards Receiving Ceremony.
4) Please submit 2 photos of passport size photos to the Organizing Committee for accreditation purpose.
5) Each crew members shall wear clothes of same color and design.
6) Method of race and drawing
(1) There will be heats, repechages, semi-finals and finals (6 lanes will be set at the race course).
(2) Drawing lots for groups will be conducted at the Joint-meeting for team leaders, coaches and chief judges. Lane number and boat numbers will be drawn 30mins before the competition.
(3) There is no restricts for paddling style.
7. Qualification
1) Capable of swimming at least 200m in light clothing. To be proved healthy by hospitals.
2) Participants should be insured by themselves. The Organizing Committee would like to require all the paddlers wear life jackets. With written application form, team can race without life jackets.
3) According to the requirement of the WHO, more than 95% of the participants should be aged between 18 and 40 years.
8. Participation: Each open team shall comprise only 28 persons including 1 Head, 1 Team Manager, 2 Coaches, 24 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 20 Paddlers and 2 Substitutes).
9. Ranking & Awarding
1) Top 3 teams in the finals will be awarded trophies, medals and certificates.
2) Top 6 teams of total scores will be awarded with trophies and prizes.(the scores of 250m and 500m Straight Speed Race will be added together, if the total scores are equal, it will depend on the score in 250m Straight Speed Race. )

3) All those teams which do not win any prize will be awarded with participation prize of 3000RMB.
4) The organizing committee will set prizes for best drummer and best Steersman with 1000RMB respectively.
10. Entry & Registration
1) Before March 30th please confirm whether you will participate in the competition, and submit the name list before April 20th.

11. Expenses
1) The Organizing Committee will make all-round arrangement for food, accommodation and local transportation for each crew (28 number of people for standard boat), who are requested to enter according to the number of the registrations.
2) People of earlier arrival, later departure and extra will have to pay by themselves.
3) If teams from abroad come from Jiande, the Organizing Committee will make arrangement for food and accommodation for extra 2 days from May 5th to May 6th.
4) The invited teams please arrive at Wuxi or Nanjing (Airport or Railway Station). Free transportation will be provided for each team once for each trip.
12. Other matters
1) You are kindly required to inform the Culture and Sports Administration of Binhu, Wuxi about your returning information together with the name list before April 20th.
2) All participating teams should arrive on May 7th ,2008. If transportation is needed, please inform Culture and Sports Administration of Binhu, Wuxi about your arrival time of your plane or train at Wuxi or Nanjing before May 1st .
3) Time schedule:
(1) Participating team will be arranged to train on May 8th.
(2) Joint-meeting will held in the morning of May 9th, 2008. The opening ceremony, 250m races and heats of 500m races will be organized in the afternoon of May 9th, 2008.
(3) In the Afternoon of May 10th, the opening ceremony of the Wuxi Cultural Festival of Water and Mountain, semi-finals and finals of 500m will be held. In the evening of May 10th, 2008, the Celebration Dinner and Awarding Ceremony will be held.
(4) The departure date is on May 11, 2008.
13. The CDBA reserves the right of final explanation of the regulations.

We promise that all the participants are healthy, have been trained and can swim 200 meters with light clothes. We’ll observe all the regulations and rules formulated by the organizers. We will be responsible for the cost of injury; death and property loss during the racing or travel before and after the race.
