1st Wujin China International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament
Regulations
 
1. Date: April 30 to May 1, 2008
Venue: Tai Lake Resort, Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China

4. Crews: 12 open dragon boat teams and 4 women dragon boat teams invited by the CDBA
5. Racing Events:
250m and 500m for open and women straight speed race (standard dragon boat)
6. Racing Method:
1) The 2003 version of the “Chinese Dragon Boat Racing Regulations” is applied in the race.
2) All racing dragon boats shall be provided by the Organizing Committee. Participating teams are also allowed to bring their own paddles whose color must be the same. Steer will be fixed to the boat.
3) Each team shall bring two of their national or regional flags for protocol occasions.
4) Every participant is required to being two copies of passport sized photos which are to be submitted to the Organizing Committee upon arrival for accreditation purpose.
5) Each crew members shall wear clothes of identical color and design.
6) Method of racing & drawing:
(1) There will be heats, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals for open group. Women races will be for three rounds. The accumulation of three rounds’ results will be the final score. If the final scores are the same, we will refer to the time results.
(2) Drawing lots will be conducted at the technical meeting for team leaders, coaches and chief judges. Lane number and boat number will be drawn 30 minutes before the race at the roll-call spot.
7) Free paddling style will be used during the competition.
7. Qualification:
1) To be proved healthy by hospitals and capable of swimming at least 200m in light clothing.
2) Participants should be insured by themselves. Athletes have to wear life jackets during races (written application can be made to the Organizing Committee for not wearing life jackets).
8. Participation Method
 1) Open team shall comprise 28 persons, 1 Head, 1 Team Manager, 2 Coaches, 24 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 20 Paddlers and 2 Substitutes).
 2) Women team shall comprise 28 persons, 1 Head, 1 Team Manager, 2 Coaches, 24 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 20 Paddlers and 2 Substitutes). All athletes must be women.
9. Ranking and awarding:
1)      All top 3 teams of open events will be awarded trophies and medals. Top 6 teams will be awarded with trophies.
2)      Events will be decided by total results (add the results of 250m and 500m together). If the score is equal, it will depend on the result of the 250m race. Prizes distributed as follows(RMB, Chinese currency):

3)      All those teams which do not win any prize will be awarded with participation prize of 3500 RMB.
4)      The organizing committee will set Best Drummer and Best Steerer Prizes (decided by votes from all teams). Each will be award with trophies and 1000 RMB prize.
10. Entry and Confirm
1) Please inform us by March 30, 2008, if you are interested in the race. Entry form is requested to feed back by April 15, 2006.
2) Please send the entry form back to the CDBA and Tourism Bureau of Wujin District

11. Expenses
1)      The Organizing Committee will make all-round arrangement for food, accommodation and local transportation for each crew (28 people).
2)      People of earlier arrival, later departure and extra will have to pay for themselves.
3)      Teams invited from Longyou race will be provided with transportation from Longyou to Wujin.
4)      Please inform the Organizing Committee of your arrival and departure details by April 15, 2008 so that we can make arrangements accordingly. You are kindly requested to arrive at Nanning or Changzhou airport or train station. Free transportation will be provided for each team once for each trip.
12. Other matters
1)      The arrival date is April 28, 2008. April 29 is for training. The technical meeting will be held in the morning of April 30, 2008. 250m race will be held in the afternoon of April 30, 2008. Opening ceremony will be held in the morning of May 1, 2008. 500m race will be held in the afternoon of May 1, 2008. Celebration dinner will held in the evening of May 1, 2008. The departure date is May 2, 2008.

We promise that all the participants are healthy, have been trained and can swim 200 meters with light clothes. We’ll observe all the regulations and rules made by the organizers. We will bear the expenses of injury; death and property loss during the racing or travel before and after the race. We will not sue the organizer or individual related directly or indirectly to the 1st Wujin China International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament for the responsibility of the above-mentioned matters.
