1. Date: May 19-20, 2007

  Venue: Yichang City, Hubei Province, China

2. Participating teams: 20 invited dragon boat teams home and abroad

3. Host: Leisure Sports Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Chinese Dragon Boat Association, Sports Administration of Hubei Province and People’s Government of Yichang City

4. Organized by Sports Administration of Yichang City

5. Events:

(1)    Open 500m Straight Speed

(2)    Women 500m Straight Speed

(3)    Mixed 500m Straight Speed

(4)    Open 39km Rally Race

(5)    Women 39km Rally Race

(6)    Mixed 39km Rally Race

Note: if the number of women or mixed teams are less than four, they will compete with open teams.

6. Participating Method

(1)    We will use the latest version of the Chinese Dragon Boat Racing Rules.

(2)    Dragon boats shall be provided by the Organizing Committee. The specification of paddles is not limited. The Participating teams are also allowed to bring their own paddles of the same color. The steer will be fixed to all boats.

(3)    Each team is requested to bring two national or regional flags to be hung around the racing course and used during ceremonies.

(4)    Each participant is kindly required to bring two photos (passport size) and submit to the competition department upon arrival for making accreditation and marshalling cards.

7. Qualification of paddlers

(1) To enjoy good health to be proved by the hospital and be able to swim 200m with light clothing.

(2) To be insured by themselves for an outdoor accident and must wear life vest during the competition.

8. Each dragon boat crew is composed of 28 people including 1 team leader, 1 team manager, 2 coach and 24 athletes (including 1drummer, 1steerer, 20 paddlers and 2 substitutes).

    (1) There is no gender requirement for open event.

    (2) Women crew for women event should be all female athletes.

    (3) There should be 8-12 female athletes for mixed crew and at least 8 female paddlers on board.

9. Ranking and awarding

(1) All top 6 winners of each event shall be awarded trophies.

(2) All top 3 winners of each event shall be awarded medals.

(3) If there are more than 15 crews for one event, all top 8 winners will be awarded.

(4) There will be awards for Best Performance, Strongest Will and Best Sportsmanship. Teams of no ranking will be awarded Memorial Cups.

10. Entry

    (1) Please send back the provisional entry form by April 10, 2007. The named entry form is required to be returned by April 30,, 2007.

11. Expenses

   (1) The Organizing Committee will provide each team (28 participants) with food, accommodation and local transportation.

   (2) Expenses caused by extra people and early arrival or late departure will be borne by relevant teams or individual.

12. Other matters.

   (1) Please arrive and register on May 17, 2007. You are kindly required to inform the Sports Administration of Yichang City, Hubei Province your arrival details such as flight or train number so that the Organizing Committee will arrange transportation for all the teams according. The Organizing Committee will meet your team only once, so please make a good arrangement.

   (2) May 18, 2007 is training day. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held respectively on May 19 and May 20, 2007. The departure date is May 21, 2007.

We promise that all the participants are healthy, have been trained and can swim 200 meters with light clothes. We’ll observe all the regulations and rules formulated by the organizers. We will be responsible for the cost of injury; death and property loss during the racing or travel before and after the race. We will not sue the 2007 Chinese National Dragon Boat Month Series Races & the 5^th Yangtse River Three Gorges Rally China International Dragon Boat Tournament Organizer or any individual related to the tournament for the responsibility of the above-mentioned matters.
