2006 Ningbo (China) Dongqian Lake International Dragon Boat Race
Competition Regulations
1. Competition time and venue:
October 31-November 3, 2006
Dongqian Lake, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China

4. Invitee:
Dragon boat teams from Mainland China and outside-of -Mainland China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan)
5. Race event: open group, standard boat, 800 m straight speed
6. Race method:
6.1. The latest “Dragon Boat Competition Rules” approved by the Chinese Dragon Boat Association will be applied in the race.
6.2. The Organizing Committee will provide dragon boats and paddles for the race. The participating teams may bring their own paddles, but the color of their paddles must be identical. Fixed steer will be used.
6.3. The teams from outside of Mainland China are requested to bring two national or regional flags for the venue and ceremonies.
6.4. The style and color of the sports wear of the athletes in the same team must be identical.
6.5. Drawing lots:
6.5.1. Heats, quarterfinals, semifinals, repchage and finals will be conducted in the race.
6.5.2. Drawing lots for heats will be conducted at the technical meeting before the race. The race lane and boat number will be decided by drawing lots at the marshal area.
7. Qualification of Athletes:
7.1. Participating athletes must have the health certificates to prove them to be healthy; enough ability in swimming and can swim over 200m with swimming vest.
7.2. Participating athletes are sure to underwrite the personal accidental insurance themselves in their own country or region. Athletes participate in the race with the life-saving vests. (The participating teams may make an application in written form for participating in the race without wearing life-saving vests).
8. Participation methods:
8.1. Each team consists of 28 people: 1 team leader, 1 manager, 2 coaches, 24 athletes including 1 helmsman, 1 drummer, 20 paddlers and 2 reserves. Sex is not limited.
8.2. Each participant is kindly requested to bring 2 photos (passport size) to give the Organizing Committee for ID Card at registration.
9. Ranking and awards
9.1. Top six places will be selected and awarded ranking trophies and prizes.
9.2. Those teams which fail to enter top six will be awarded commemorative cups and prizes
9.3 Allotment of prize
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5thand 6th places will be awarded respectively 15000, 12000, 10000, 800, 800, 800 yuan (Chinese currency) and all other places 800 yuan for open class (standard boat).
10. Confirmation and entry
10.1. Participating unit is kindly requested to send their entries (two copies of the same entry)each to the Chinese Dragon Boat Association and Ningbo Organizing Committee respectiverly by October 10, 2006 for the first entry and by October 20, 2006 for the second entry (by post mark date).

11. Expenses
11.1. Traveling expenses will be borne by participating teams themselves.
11.2. The Organizing Committee will provide participating teams with free meals, accommodation and local transportation in Ningbo.
11.3. Those who arrive earlier or depart later than the designated time and extra persons except the designated number of each team will be responsible for the expenses of their meals, accommodation and local transportation themselves. If they need the Organizing Committee for help, 400 yuan (Chinese currency) must be given to the Organizing Committee per person per day for a package of meals, accommodation and local transportation in Ningbo.
12. Other business
12.1. Those teams who need to book the return tickets are requested to send their request together with the letter of confirmation to the Organizing Committee by October 20, 2006 and if it is overdue, the Organizing Committee declines to accept the request.
12.2. All teams are requested to register on October 31st, 2006. If you need “pick-up”, please inform the Ningbo Organizing Committee of your train or flight number and time by October 25, 2006.
12.3. The opening, closing and awarding ceremonies will be held on November 2, 2006 and teams depart on November 3, 2006.

We guarantee that all of our athletes are healthy and can swim over 200m wearing light swimming vest. We agree to observe all the rules and regulations made by the Organizing Committee. We will be responsible for injuries, deaths and loss of properties caused during the competition and traveling of pre-competition and post-competition, not ascertain responsibility to the Organizing Committee of this race and those individual or organizations that have direct or indirect relationship with the race.
