REGULATIONS

5.Racing Events:
1) 500m Open Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)
2) 1000m Open Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)
3) 500m Women Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)
4) 1000m Women Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)
6. Racing Method:
1) The 2003 version of the “Chinese Dragon Boat Racing Regulations” is applied in the race.
2) All racing dragon boats shall be provided by the Organizing Committee. Participating teams are also allowed to bring their own paddles whose color must be identical. Steer will be fixed to the boat.
3) Each team shall bring two of their national or regional flags for hanging around the race course and using during ceremonies.
4)Each crew members shall wear clothes of the same color and design.
5)Method of racing & drawing:
(1) There will be heats, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals (final method will be decided by actual entry numbers).
(2) Drawing lots will be conducted at the Joint-meeting for team leaders, coaches and chief judges. Lane number and boat number will be drawn after the roll call.
7. Qualification:
1) To be proved healthy by hospitals and capable of swimming at least 200m in light clothing.
2) Participants should be insured by themselves. Athletes have to wear life jackets during races (written application can be made to the Organizing Committee for not wearing life jackets).
8. Participation Method
1) Each standard team shall comprise 28 persons, 1 Head, 1 Team Manager, 2 Coach, 24 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 20 Paddlers and 2 Substitutes).
2) For women events, all athletes must be females. There is no gender limit for other events.
3) If the number of women teams is not enough, these teams will be included into open events.
9. Ranking and awarding:
1) All top 6 teams will be awarded trophies.
2) All top 3 teams will be awarded medals.
3) All non-winning teams will be awarded souvenir trophies.
4) The Organizing Committee has arranged prizes and will award teams of top 3 winning teams of open and women events. Other teams will be awarded participation prizes.
10) Entry and Confirmation
1) Please inform us by May 1st, 2006, if you are interested in the race. Entry form is requested to feed back by May 15th, 2006.
2) Please send the entry form to the CDBA and Sports Bureau of Miluo City.

11. Expenses
1) The Organizing Committee will make all-round arrangement for food, accommodation and local transportation for each crew (28 people).
2) People of earlier arrival, later departure and extra will have to pay for themselves.
12.Other matters
1) If you need to book tickets, please feed back the information to the Sports Bureau of Miluo City together with the entry form by May 15, 2006.
2) Each team is requested to arrive on May 29, 2006. If you need to be picked up at the train station or airport, please inform the Sports Bureau of Miluo City of your arrival date and flight or train number by May 20, 2006.
3) The Opening Ceremony is on May 31, 2006. Closing Ceremony is on June 1, 2006.
4) Each team is kindly requested to make a good arrangement for arrival and departure for the organizer will provide the transportation for arrival and departure only once for each team respectively.
