REGULATIONS
1.Date: June 3-4, 2006

5.Racing Events:
1) 500m Open Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)
2) 800m Open Straight Speed Race (standard dragon boat)

5) 500m Open Straight Speed Race (small dragon boat)

6. Racing Method:
1) The 2003 version of the “Chinese Dragon Boat Racing Regulations” is applied in the race.
2) All racing dragon boats shall be provided by the Organizing Committee. Participating teams are also allowed to bring their own paddles whose color must be identical. Steer will be fixed to the boat.
3) Teams outside Guangxi region and part of Nanning teams participate in the open races.
4) Nanning dragon boat teams will participate in the common events.
5) There is no limit to the participating area for women teams (if there are less than 4 teams, the event will be cancelled).
6) Each team shall bring two of their national or regional flags for hanging around ther race course and using during ceremonies.
7)Each crew members shall wear clothes of the identical color and design.
8)Method of racing & drawing:
(1) There will be heats, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals (final method will be decided by actual entry numbers).
(2) Drawing lots will be conducted at the Joint-meeting for team leaders, coaches and chief judges. Lane number and boat number will be drawn immediately before the race at the roll-call spot.
7. Qualification:
1) To be proved healthy by hospitals and capable of swimming at least 200m in light clothing.
2) Participants should be insured by themselves. Athletes have to wear life jackets during races (written application can be made to the Organizing Committee for not wearing life jackets).
8. Participation Method
1) Each standard team shall comprise 28 persons, 1 Head, 1 Team Manager, 1 Coach, 25 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 20 Paddlers and 3 Substitutes).
2) Each small boat team shall comprise 16 persons, 1 Head, 1 Coach, 14 athletes (including 1 Drummer, 1 Steersman, 10 Paddlers and 2 Substitutes).
3) For women events, all athletes must be females. There is no gender limit for other events.
9. Ranking and awarding:
1) All top 6 teams of all open events, top 6 teams of common events shall be awarded trophies (or silk banners) and medals (certificates).
2) Open standard, women standard and open small events will be decided by total results (putting results of 500m and 800m together). Top 6 teams will be awarded and prizes distributed as follows(RMB, Chinese currency):

3) The places of common standard and common small events will be decided by total results (putting results of 500m and 800m together). Top 6 teams will be awarded and prizes distributed as follows(RMB, Chinese currency):

4) Those teams which do not win any prize will be awarded a participation award: open standard event prize is 1500RMB, open small event prize is 1000RMB, women standard prize is 1500RMB, common standard prize is 1000RMB and common small prize is 800RMB.
10) Entry and Confirmation
1) Please inform us by May 1st, 2006, if you are interested in the race. Entry form is requested to feed back by May 15th, 2006.
2) Please send the entry form back to the CDBA and Sports Bureau of Nanning city.

11. Expenses
1) The Organizing Committee will make all-round arrangement for food, accommodation and local transportation for each crew (28 people for standard boa team and 16 people for small boat team).
2) People of earlier arrival, later departure and extra will have to pay for themselves.
12.Other matters
1) If you need to book tickets, please feed back the information to the Sports Bureau of Nanning City by May 15, 2006.
2) Each team is requested to arrive on June 1, 2006. If you need to be picked up at the train station or airport, please inform the Sports Administration of Nanning City of your arrival date, flight or train number by May 25, 2006.
3) The Opening Ceremony is on June 3, 2006. Closing Ceremony is on June 4, 2006. The departure date is June 5, 2006.
4) Each team is kindly requested to make a good arrangement for arrival and departure for the organizer will provide the transportation for arrival and departure only once for each team respectively.
